Message from Mayor Paul McVeigh
I would like to extend a very warm welcome to everyone who has joined us for the 2018 Jandowae Timbertown Festival.
The Timbertown Festival is one of our region's biennial events showcasing the history, lifestyle and community spirit of the Western Downs.
During the festival the population of Jandowae quadruples as visitors and locals alike descend on the town to experience the iconic and one-of-a-kind festival.
It's wonderful to celebrate the 10th festival that highlights our region's rich milling history and showcases our community spirit and country hospitality which we pride ourselves on.
Timbertown's family friendly program ensures there's something for everyone; from street parades to market stalls, wood chipping competitions, yabby races, bush poets, barrel racing and live entertainment.
One of the highlights this year will be witnessing the rare and memorable sights of a bullock team at work.
A special thank you to Jandowae Timbertown Festival Committee for hosting this remarkable event and congratulations on 10 very successful festivals since Timbertown first started in 2001. You continue to take us on a journey back to the timber milling days and create lifelong memories for visitors and locals.
On behalf of Western Downs Regional Council, I invite you to come along and enjoy the Jandowae Timbertown Festival.
I'll see you there.
Cr Paul McVeigh
Western Downs Regional Council Mayor
